About Danbury & Lovejoy
Welcome to Danbury & Lovejoy—an exceedingly civilised corner of the internet where we practise the art of the considered life from our chalky little perch in East Sussex. We potter, we ponder, and when absolutely necessary, we publish. Think of us as a small British studio with one foot in the allotment and the other on a Persian rug in the study, making useful things and writing about them with suspiciously clean fingernails.
What we’re about (besides the perfect cup of tea)
We make the sort of things we wish already existed: handsome designs and emblems, practical guides and essays, small bits of software that keep life delightfully shipshape, plus recipes and seasonal notes from our Seaford plot. If it isn’t useful or joyful, it doesn’t leave the house—rather like Uncle Bertram after lunch.
Our House in Five Rooms (otherwise known as the site categories)
The Kitchen & Larder
Where stews behave, bread minds its manners, and gadgets earn their keep. Expect proper recipes, kit we actually use, and thrifty, quietly luxurious ways to feed people you like (and a few you merely tolerate). If we recommend a tool, it’s because it’s survived both Sunday lunch and Tuesday fatigue.
The Garden & Allotment
Our chalky soil is as opinionated as a Dowager, so we grow what thrives and compost what doesn’t. From no-nonsense kit to herb plots that act like they own the place, this is where we turn peelings and prunings into something rather dashing for the borders and the dinner plate.
Money & Sense
Plain, sensible thinking on household economics, pensions and investing—no peacocking, no hot air, just the sort of advice you might jot on the back of a bank statement with a good fountain pen. We like plans that age well and returns that let you sleep.
The Study
Stationery, books, and the noble revival of letter-writing. Consider this our club room: paper with backbone, inks that don’t sulk, and the occasional essay when a thought refuses to sit quietly in the corner.
The Weekend
Unhurried pastimes, gentle travel, and ways to make two days feel like three. Bring stout shoes, a proper map, and the agreeable certainty that there will be cake.
Our approach (boots clean, copy clear)
Quality over kerfuffle. Clear writing. Fair pricing. Tiny tools that help you organise life without demanding a Christmas bonus. We test, we tinker, and we tell you what actually works so you don’t have to learn the hard way (ask us about the thyme that tried to annex the path).
A word on affiliations (and other matters of good form)
From time to time we recommend products. If you buy through our links, we may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—which helps keep the kettle on and the server paid. We only suggest things we’d cheerfully use ourselves, and we say so plainly.
The Danbury Dispatch
If you fancy a weekly round-up—new pieces, seasonal allotment tips, useful downloads, and the occasional partner offer—pop your name on the list. We use double opt-in, because consent is terribly chic.
Say hello
For collaborations, press, or to compare compost notes: hello@danburyandlovejoy.com. We read our own mail and reply with ink on our fingers and mud on our boots—though rarely at the same time.

Meet the Writers
Tarquin Wetherby-Smythe
Tarquin Wetherby-Smythe divides his time between pruning the herbaceous border, polishing his copper pans, and booking suspiciously economical weekend jaunts. A devotee of sturdy tweed and even sturdier teapots, he believes life’s great problems can be solved with compost and a well-buttered crumpet. At Danbury & Lovejoy he writes about gardening, gentlemanly gear, and quietly excellent home comforts.
Arabella Pimm-Delafield
Arabella Pimm-Delafield writes about civilised kitchens, elegant travel, and the tiny luxuries that turn an ordinary Tuesday into a fête. Fond of linen napkins, vintage trains, and cakes with alarming amounts of citrus, she believes charm beats hustle and that a good list is as essential as lipstick. At Danbury & Lovejoy she steers the home, cookery, and wanderlust columns.
Published by Danbury & Lovejoy. Proudly headquartered wherever the teapot is.
