Independent British lifestyle editorial
A magazine for the way we actually live.
Practical guides, carefully researched picks, and a quieter take on home life in Britain — written for real households, not aspirational ones.
What Danbury & Lovejoy is
Danbury & Lovejoy started from a simple frustration: most lifestyle content is aspirational in a way that doesn’t help much. Beautiful kitchens, expensive products, effortless homes. Very little about how to actually make your everyday life feel warmer, calmer and more considered on a normal budget.
So we made this instead.
It sits alongside titles like The Simple Things, Country Living, and Delicious in spirit — calm, considered, and rooted in real British life — but with a more practical edge. This is not a publication about aspirational interiors or fantasy lifestyles. It is about the decisions most of us actually face: which slow cooker is worth the money, whether a heated airer really saves on bills, what to do with a glut of courgettes.
Everything is written for a British audience, researched for British conditions, and priced in pounds.
Who’s behind this?

I’m Gareth. I live on the south coast of England, close to the chalky cliffs, with an allotment I’m perpetually behind on and a small kitchen where most of my better ideas get tested. Danbury & Lovejoy grew out of the same instinct that drives most of what I cook and grow: that the quiet, practical things — a good batch of soup, a warm house, something coming up in the beds — are usually the most worthwhile.
I have 15 years of growing experience across gardens, containers and other growing spaces, including an East Sussex allotment for the past three years, and I’ve baked bread at home for 25+ years. That background, alongside a long-standing interest in home cooking and practical household management, informs everything the site covers.

Editorial standards
Danbury & Lovejoy does not publish what it has not researched. Every buying guide is based on thorough independent research — drawing on verified customer reviews, expert sources, and manufacturer specifications. We do the research so you don’t have to.
The site earns income through affiliate links. When a reader clicks through and makes a purchase, we receive a small commission at no extra cost to them. This never influences what we recommend or how we write about a product. Commission rates are not considered when we choose what to recommend. We only recommend things we would suggest to a friend.
Sponsored content is not currently accepted. If that changes, it will be clearly labelled and disclosed. Our editorial independence is not for sale.
Every recommendation is based on thorough research — expert sources, verified specifications and customer reviews, plus our own use where we’ve had the product.
Position in any guide reflects our honest assessment, not payment.
All commercial relationships are declared clearly, in line with ASA and UK CAP guidelines.
If something we have written is wrong, we correct it promptly and visibly.
